Day 87: Sulphur Eggs, Hakone

Day 87

Hakone is a mountainous area outside Tokyo famous for it’s volcanic sulphur fields.  The place basically smells like eggs!  While up at the tourist stops in the mountain you can purchase eggs boiled in the hot sulphuric waters.  When they come out of the water the shells are black.  But they taste no different from regular hard boiled eggs.

Taken with my Olympus Pen EP-1.  Setting: Aperture Priority.  Aperture: f5.6; Shutter: 1/3200; ISO: 400.  Shrouded in mists from the sulphur!
