Day 198: Courgette Flowers

Day 198

Was greeted with the sight of these fabulous flowers on the balcony this morning.  The courgette plants seem to enjoy springing into life over night.  There was no sign of this last night when I went to bed!  These flowers are one each of male and female, so I did a bit of pollination with a brush before leaving for work.  I’m not sure why as I clearly have a courgette coming on the bottom of the female flower, but it seemed like the right thing to do!

Taken with my Olympus Pen EP-1.  Setting: Aperture Priority.  Aperture: f2.8; Shutter: 1/100; ISO: 400.  Macro lens.  Cropped in iPhoto.
